Join us this summer for our 2020 Summer Reading Program: Imagine Your Story!

This year will be a little different. We will be tracking sign ups and points virtually through the online reading platform “READsquared” (available on desktop or via the READsquared app).

There are four different age groups:

  • Pre-K (age 0-4)
  • Children’s (age 5-12)
  • Teens (age 13-17)
  • Adults (age 18+)

Here’s how it works…

Pre-K (Ages 0-4)

Step 1: Parents register online at http://pml.readsquared.com/ between June 15 and July 30. The registration page will ask you to register as “Myself,” “Myself and Children” or “My Group.” Click “Myself and Children” and follow the instructions to create an account and track your child’s reading through the “Pre-K 2020 Imagine Your Story” program.

Step 2: Track your child’s reading through the summer between June 15 and July 31. Participate in library activities like take-home crafts and drive-in movies throughout the summer to earn additional points.

Tracking and Points

To account for variations in reading level and speed, readers can track reading by minutes, picture books, books, and audiobooks.

1 Picture Book = 10 points
1 Volunteer* Hour = 10 points
1 Day** = 10 points

*Volunteer hours are for any library programs you participate in, like take-home crafts or drive-in movies. Please mark 1 hour per activity/program you participate in.

**Tracking each day you read rewards you for developing a reading habit. The more days you read, the more points you earn (on top of the books you finish). You can record both the day you read plus the picture books finished that day.

Pre-K children can earn up to 100 points per day.

When you reach 500 points, you will earn a summer reading program participation certificate. But don’t stop there! Keep earning points all summer to compete for the grand prize.

Awards at the end of the summer

1 Grand prize for the top points winner in this age group.

Raffle Prizes for 3 participants chosen at random from this age group.

*Prizes TBD
